Special Commission
The General Assembly made a startling decision on 23rd May 2011. It decided to allow the ordination of ministers who are in sexually active same sex relationships. A theological Commission was set up to look into how the Church might proceed with this, rather than simply examining the biblical evidence to see if it should be done in the first place.
The Church of Scotland has broken ranks with the Church of Christ and taken the step of adopting the world's view. I cannot speak for my congregations but I personally reject that position. In turning its back on the teaching of the Word of God the Church of Scotland has set itself on a downward and very slippery slope that will in the end result in its destruction. But there is time to turn back, to repent!
Much was made during the Assembly of how the Church of Scotland must be an 'inclusive' church, but only if you accept this new secular teaching and reject what the Bible says. It is quite clear from articles in the press and media that journalists, and others, have no understanding of the issue. Those who claim the Church is out of touch with the world have at least got that right but, thankfully, it is still in touch with Christ, in the world but not of it, unlike the Church of Scotland.
